Is Sushi even THAT good?
It is known that sushi is one of the best delicacies in Japan. The freshness of the fish, vegetables, and other condiments, such as the light taste of vinegar, combine to form a mouth-watering dish. Although the dish looks simple, it tastes ever so complex due to its rich flavors. Vietnam does a good job of recreating these authentic sushi tastes. For example, Hokkaido Sachi (located all over Ho Chi Minh City) is one of the best places to sell Japanese foods; from its sashimi to hot soups, Hokkaido delivers the most accurate presentation.
They always have fresh food in stock and a variety of dishes. For people who can't eat uncooked fish, Hokkaido provides cooked options that use the same style and similar ingredients to the original. One of my favorites is the Mentaiko Salmon Maki; this dish is very flavorful, rich, and creamy, paired with the fresh, cold cucumber that balances out all the flavors. For those who don’t know what Mentaiko is, it is fish roe fermented and salted. Hence, it is entirely safe to eat. Hokkaido will serve this with a sauce that mixes mayo and other seasonings to make the seared salmon a creamy, salty, savory topper. This is one dish I would recommend for someone trying sushi for the first time. One advice is to find a place with good reviews, ask your peers, and be open-minded. Sushi is unique, and everyone should try to expand their taste buds!

Origin of the Sushi
The most authentic version of sushi goes back to the rice fields in China, where people would enjoy this dish called narezushi that resembles sushi. This consists of salted fish and fresh hot rice mixed with vinegar– the fish is placed onto the rice and then wrapped in seaweed.
A variety of names and presentations
“Sushi” doesn’t mean raw fish; it means “sour rice.” And if you are very interested in Japanese cuisine, then you would know that there are many varieties of sushi such as Maki (Rolls), Nigiri (rice with a choice of fish on top), Kaizen-don (Rice bowl with a generous amount of fish, egg, or even fish roe). Though these dishes seem like a lot, many more are relevant to the name “sushi” we know now. These well-presented dishes are growing and adapting to our generation, causing many new inventions and inspiring dishes from many different countries.
Culture adaptations
Western culture has used inspirations from the Maki to make the California roll, which contains imitation crab, mayo, cucumber, and avocado. Also, Americans have combined popular Mexican and Japanese dishes, such as tacos and sushi, to make sushi tacos. More families now look forward to creating their inventions and variations of Japanese foods.
